Windermere beginnings...

I started with Windermere June 10, 1998 as front desk, full time receptionist. My job quickly involved overseeing the general office flow---learning quickly how much professionalism is involved in a real estate career. The importance of honesty, integrity, and the enjoyment of what you're doing are among the most common traits of successful agents. Efficiency and good time-management are my important self-goals. Coming from a background in the medical field, as a technician and in patient/customer relations, the change was huge. At least with real estate, most people are glad to be in our office!! I've gained ease and confidence with the positive customers I've encountered.

Life changes...

Also in 1998, I married Bob Shelton, we settled into the community and I began to grow into my job with Windermere. By mid 1999, I had begun to process transactions for our agents and took on both advertising and accounts payable/receivables. I've always made sure everyone knows I am no accountant!! Thanks to my mentor, Michelle Morrison, who did an incredible job before me and trained me so well - I now have the moniker of Office Administrator. We all know change is good...and sometimes hard...but as our office changes, many new duties have been added to my position. I continue to learn and grow with the advertising challenges and widening parameters of my job. Hopefully, I can continue to build my resume' and add more management skills. Our office has transitioned from the small beginnings on South Montesano, through the largest and most incredible office in all of Westport, and then to our first wonderful location down at the marina/docks in downtown Westport in a smaller storefront. We had downsized due to the economy, but the days are getting brighter, and we have since moved to the largest marina building with a beautiful, welcoming office and plenty of room for our agents. On March 7 of 2015, I lost my husband. He was a city councilman, involved in the city he loved. A huge loss in so many ways. For me at work, in my 18th year with Mike, I continue to learn more each year in my Office Administrator position and have almost become 'one of the locals!' Our Windermere office has a great crew and I enjoy my workdays.

The Present...

"Yesterday's gone, today is a gift....that's why they call it The Present." I have three beautiful grown children: Jennifer, a patient coordinator at Children's Hospital Cranio-Facial Unit in Seattle; Kate, was an animal reasearch associate at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, and has moved back to the NW, and now works in faculty hiring at Evergreen State College; and Mike and family, just back from a few months in Australia, live in Maple Valley, WA. Mike, with an international tech sales job, and his wife Amelia, my very artistic daughter, gave us our 1st granddaughter "Ava" in Nov '05 and our 3rd granddaughter "Layla" in June '07. My step-son Brian and his wife Kristin, near Las Vegas, NV, gave us our 2nd granddaughter "Aria" in Dec '05, and our 4th granddaughter "Kaila" in Dec '07. On April 1, 2010 they also gave us our first grandson, "Ian", born on his great-grandfather's birthday! On March 25, 2015, they gave me another granddaughter,"Siena Jade", born two weeks after her grandfather passed away. At work, Brian & his crew refurbish pump and fire/emergency vehicles, often for airports or firestations. Kristin plans for a teaching career working with children with disabilities! She may have gotten slowed on that route since just having my 5th granddaughter, but she also creates wonderful, professionally decorated cakes in the interim, and has just completed her AA degree and is already working at the local school too!!
My family and my job at Windermere are very special to me!!
